1. Information We Collect & How We Use It

When you submit an inquiry, register for an account, or claim or list a venue, we collect what you provide directly — name, email, and any business details or photos you upload. We also automatically collect basic technical data: device/browser type, approximate location from your IP address, pages viewed, and how you found our site. We use this information only to connect event planners with venues and to manage venue owner accounts — never for targeted advertising.

Business listings. Some listings are created from publicly available business information (business name, street address, the kinds of events it hosts, and a public business email or contact page). We may use a public business email to tell the business about its listing; you can opt out at any time by replying to that email or writing to [email protected].

Removal and correction requests. If you send a request from a listing page, we collect your name, email, your connection to the business, and your message, and use them only to handle and keep a record of that request. We keep the name of a business removed at its request so we don't list it again by mistake.

2. Third-Party Services We Use

A handful of trusted providers help us run the site, and each may set cookies or receive data (like your IP address) as a normal part of how they work:

  • Google Firebase: handles login, stores listing data, and stores uploaded photos.
  • Cloudflare and GoDaddy: host and deliver the site and protect it from attacks; they receive standard request data such as your IP address. Cloudflare may also give us cookie-free, aggregate visitor statistics (such as page views, referring sites, country and device type), which do not identify you or track you across other sites.
  • Google Fonts: loads the typefaces used on the site.
  • OpenStreetMap / Nominatim: powers our map and business address lookup.
  • Microsoft 365: our email, including the notification emails the site sends (for example, telling a venue owner about a new inquiry).

These providers are governed by Google's Privacy Policy, the OpenStreetMap Foundation's Privacy Policy and Cloudflare's Privacy Policy. Using our site means consenting to this standard use of cookies and service providers.

3. We Do Not Sell or Share Your Data

Book Omaha does not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes — ever. Inquiry information is shared only with the specific venue you choose to contact (for an unclaimed listing, once that business claims it). The providers listed above process data solely to help us operate the site and may not use it for their own purposes.

4. Data Security & Retention

We use industry-standard safeguards, including encrypted cloud databases, though no method of transmission is ever 100% secure. Lead inquiries are automatically deleted after 24 months, and the personal details in removal and correction requests are cleared 24 months after they're handled. Venue accounts, listings, and photos are kept only while active, or until removal is requested. Analytics data follows Firebase's default retention (about 14 months).

5. Other Policies

Book Omaha is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect data from minors — contact us if you believe we have. We may update this policy from time to time; the "Last Updated" date above will reflect any change, and continued use of the site after an update means you accept it.
